Abstract

Discusses some of the obstacles which are beginning to appear to the development of communications superhighways in the USA and Europe. Highlights a number of large investment plans in communications technology in the USA which have recently been abandoned, and points to a degree of 'corporate cold feet' on the part of giant enterprises. Emphasizes that the major problems will not be technological and financial but political and regulatory anf gives examples of developemtns in these areas
