Abstract

Das Internet ist heute für viele PC-Benutzer eine interessante Möglichkeit zur Informationsgewinnung. Hierzu haben sowohl die Öffnung für private und kommerzielle Anwender als auch die Entwicklung multimedialer Informationssysteme beigetragen. Zur Nutzung der meisten Dienste kann ferner kostenlose Software für DOS und Windows eingesetzt werden. Hans-Lothar Hase beschreibt zunächst einführend, wie der Enduser auf die Datenautobahn gelangt. Schwerpunkt der Darstellung ist aber die Beschreibung von Programmen zur Nutzung der Internet-Dienste. Hierzu gehören Dateiübertragung, Rechnerdialog, Diskussionsforen, vor allem aber die Recherche mit Gopher und WWW
