Abstract

As the author of the 'five laws of library science', Colon Classification and many other important works on librarianship, S.R. Ranganathan was honoured by former Indian president V.V. Giri as the father of library science in India. Provides a brief account of Ranganathan's life, career, works, achievement in library education, offices and honours, and his contribution to world and Indian librarianship
