Abstract

Describes a pilot project to increase experience in caturing, retrieving and playing back mixed CD formats (Interactive CD, Enhanced CD and CD-Plus). Describes the problems posed by the multiplicity of different formats and reduction ratios. Refers to the internal situation in the German radio sound archives where, although unanimous agreement has been reached on the need for standard cataloguing rules for archiving and documenting multimedia productions, nothing has resulted. Despite producing few multimedia programmes, the author's archive is receiving large amounts of such material which it is unable to document or archive adequately
