Abstract
Der 35-jährige Mathematiker Laurent Lafforgue hat die nobelpreisähnliche Fields-Medaille 2002 dafür erhalten, dass er einen wesentlichen Teil eines umfangreichen 35 Jahre alten Forschungsprogramm (Beweis der Langlands-Vermutung (Jede L-Reihe eine Körpererweiterung ist auch Reihenentwicklung einer automorphen Funktion und umgekehrt) für Funktionenkörper) erledigt hat
