Abstract

Es wird untersucht, ov Online-Literaturdatenbanken eine sinnvolle Quelle multilingualer Terminologie für Übersetzer, Termonologen, Dokumentare, technische Redakteure und andere sprachverarbeitende Berufe sein können, obwohl sie für diesen Zweck nicht gedacht sind. Ausgewählte Datenbanken werden im Hinblick auf ihre Multilingualität analysiert, und mögliche Suchstrategien für ihre terminologische Nutzung beschrieben. Umfangreiche Versuche, praktische Übersetzungsprobleme durch Suche in bibliographischen Datenbanken zu lösen, wurden durchgeführt und insbesondere auf Zuverlässigkeit und Wirtschaftlichkeit hin ausgewertet. Bei schwierigen terminologischen Problemen, für deren Lösung Kontextinformation wesentlich ist, erwies sich die Datenbanksuche als besonders nützlich
