Abstract
In einem Pilotprojekt wurden vor allem Scannen von Katalogkarten, Minimalerfassung von strukturierten Daten und OCR zur Gewinnung von Suchbegriffen erprobt. Im Hauptprojekt wurden 2,1 Mio Titelkarten bearbeitet. Das Ergebnis ist ein Image-Katalog, der sowohl die Blätterfunktion in der Imagesequenz als auch die Suchfunktion mit strukturierten und unstrukturierten Textdaten anbietet. Detailliert werden dargestellt die Erfassungsanleitung (für die Textdaten), die Erstellung eines Registers (mit Schubladen- und Leitkartenbegriffen), die Qualitätskontrollen und die Einbindung in das automatische Ausleihsystem. Zu entwickeln war ein Datenbanksystem mit geeigneten Speiche-, Such-, Anzeige- und Bestellfunktionen für die aus Text- und Bilddaten bestehenden Katalogdaten. Entstanden ist ein Katalog, der einerseits den Kartenkatalog mit seiner grammatischen Erschließungs- und Ordnungsstruktur bewahrt, andererseits aber auch die Vorteil eines modernen OPAC besitzt, der dem Benutzer über das Netz zur Verfügung gestellt wird
