Abstract

Describes the thesaurus that has been created at the Library of the Polish Parliament and is one element of the STEBIS system (System Tezaurusow Biblioteki Sejmowej). Discusses and illustrates with examples the rules of selecting vocabulary terms. The main aim is to map the contents of Polish and foreign documents and to preserve compatibility with the EUROVOC Thesaurus of the European Parliament. Emphasizes the need for the systematization of terms within one logical setup, with regard to the alphabetical and systematic part of the thesaurus and the multilingual character of the EUROVOC Thesaurus
