Abstract

In Wien geboren, vor den Nazis nach London emigriert, dort zunächst Mitarbeiter, dann von 1959 bis 1976 Direktor des 'Warburg-Instituts für Kunstwissenschaften', gehört der heute 85jährige Ernst H. Gombrich zu den einflußreichsten Kunsthistorikern. Sein Buch 'Die Geschichte der Kunst' ist ein von Laien wie Fachleuten geschätzter Longseller. Am kommenden Sonntag erhält Gombrich den Goethe-Preis der Stadt Frankfurt. Mit ihm sprach in London Ralf Müller
