Abstract

In this paper, we introduce a framework for analysing narrative structures using conceptual graphs. Using the theories of narrativity according to Propp and Greimas, we introduce a procedure which can be used for analysing narrative texts. We suggest that these theories can be reformulated in terms of conceptual graphs. We also argue that the reformulation gives rise to a procedure for semi-automatic analysis of narrative texts. The procedure includes a script for identifying the hero and the villain of a narration. The theory has been tested on a narration from the Old Testament and implemented in PROLOG
