Abstract

The Next Generation Internet (NGI) proposal by the Clinton administration would advance the current state of the Internet, advance university research capabilities, and assist federal agencies to achieve their missions. Examines the current state of the NGI initiative. Provides background information on the policy and programme, and discusses federal agency and Congressional concerns relating to funding, the appropriate roles of the federal and private sector, the avoidance of duplication and redundancy of federal efforts, and the inclusiveness of the NGI planning process
