Abstract

Isolierte Bibliothekssysteme genügen nicht mehr dem Informationsbedürfnis des modernen Wissenschaftsbetriebes. PC-gestützte Arbeitsplätze und zunehmende Vernetzung ermöglichen die Integration lokaler, regionaler und überregionaler Datenbestände. Genormte Protokolle auf der Grundlage des ISO/OSI-Basisreferenzmodells erlauben Kommunikation und Datenaustausch heterogener EDV-Systeme auch unter unterschiedlichen Betriebssystemen. Diese Konzepte wurden am Beispiel eines Katalogisierungs- und Recherchesystems realisiert. In einer vernetzten Umgebung kann dieses System nicht nur den lokalen Bestand nachweisen und verwalten, sondern erlaubt auch den Online-Zugriff auf Campus- und regionale Verbunddaten. Der vorliegende Aufsatz diskutiert die eingesetzten ISO/OSI-Normen, beschreibt die Funktionsweise und den Einsatz des Systems und gibt einen Ausblick auf weitere Projekte, die auf ihm aufbauen
