Abstract

Im Dezember 2003 hat in Genf der erste Teil des Weltgipfels zur Informationsgesellschaft stattgefunden. Staats- und Regierungschefs aus aller WeIt haben dort eine Abschlusserklärung (Declaration of Principles) und einen Aktionsplan verabschiedet. Der Weg zum zweiten Teil des Gipfels, der vom 16.-18. November 2005 in Tunis stattfinden wird, wird in den Jahren 2004 und 2005 wieder von einer Reihe von Vorbereitungskonferenzen geebnet werden. IFLA war und ist in allen Phasen intensiv an dem Prozess beteiligt. IFLA hat nun einen Kommentar über die Folgerungen der Abschlusserklärung für den Bibliotheksund Informationssektor verfasst.
