Abstract
Der Flüchtigkeit des Geistes begegnet der Mensch mit Büchern. Oft jedoch zerfällt das in den Magazinen der Bibliotheken lagernde Wissen zusammen mit dem Papier, auf dem es steht, zu Staub - es sei denn, die Lettern wechseln vorher den Datenträger. Da kommt das Internet gerade recht. Der Autor erörtert Aspekte der Softwarelokalisierung ebenso wie Kostenprobleme und Rechtsfragen. Ob die Herkunft des @, Unicode-Tabellen oder der kommentierte Linkkatalog mit Internetressourcen für die Literaturrecherche - die Bestandteile unseres neuen digitalen Environments gewinnen ein erfrischendes Eigenleben, das sich nie in fiktionalen Exkursen verliert, aber schlackenloses Infotainment bietet
