Abstract: Wie verändern neue Kommunikationsnetzwerke die Zivilgesellschaft? Wird das Prinzip der Vernetzung zum bestimmenden Paradigma für deren medientechnische, politische, ökonomische und kulturelle Bedingungen? Unter dem Motto "Kommunikationskulturen zwischen Kontinuität und Wandel - Universelle Netzwerke für die Zivilgesellschaft" gingen auf einer gemeinsamen Tagung im Juni 2000 in Wien die Österreichische Gesellschaft für Kommunikationswissenschaft (ÖGK) und die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Publizistik- und Kommunikationswissenschaft (DGPuK) diesen Fragen nach. Dieser Band enthält die Tagungsbeiträge. Michael Latzer ist stv. Leiter der Forschungsstelle für institutionellen Wandel und europäische Integration an der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und Dozent für Kommunikationsökonomie und -politik an der Universität Wien. Ursula Maier-Rabler ist Leiterin der Abteilung für multimediale Gestaltung und neue Kommunikationstechnologien am Institut für Kommunikationswissenschaft der Universität Salzburg.
