Abstract
Die Diskussion über die Wissensgesellschaft läuft Gefahr, auf gut gemeinte Weise zu einem technokratischen Diskurs zu verkommen. Die Indizien sind vorhanden: Von "Wissensmanagement" ist die Rede, von "Schlüsselkompetenzen" und "Digitalisierung", von "human resources" und vom Bedarf neuer Arbeitsmärkte, von Informationskanälen und globalem Wettbewerb - wichtige Fragen allemal, aber für eine sachgerechte Auseinandersetzung mit einem so komplexen Gegenstand wie Wissen unzureichend. Das Defizit des Diskurses liegt zum einen darin, daß er sich nicht kritisch genug mit dem Begriff von "Wissen" und seinen epochalen Veränderungen im Verlauf des 20. Jahrhunderts beschäftigt, und zum andern darin, daß er sich nicht gründlich genug mit den politischen Bedingungen und Folgen der Schaffung und Verwendung von Wissen auseinandersetzt. In diesem Beitrag unternehme ich den Versuch, dieses doppelte Defizit zu thematisieren und zu überwinden. Dieser Versuch - geht aus von den tiefgreifenden Wandlungen im Verständnis dessen, was "Wissen" bedeutet und wie es entsteht (Teil 1); - stellt sodann (in Teil 2) die Grundzüge einer "Politologie des Wissens" dar; - illustriert sie (in Teil 3) am Beispiel der Diskurse zum Begriff von Entwicklung, zur Bedeutung von Geschlechterrollen und zum Verständnis von Demokratie; und - weist schließlich (in Teil 4) darauf hin, welche Folgen diese Art von kritischer Reflektion über Wissen für die zukünftige Orientierung von Hochschulen haben könnte.
