Abstract
Metadaten und Persistent Identifiers (PI) sind zwei eigenständige Bereiche, die auf syntaktischer, semantischer und funktionaler Ebene miteinander in Beziehung stehen. Die Standardisierung beider Bereiche schafft die Voraussetzung, Metadaten mit Pls zu kombinieren und dadurch deren Vorteile synergetisch zu nutzen wie z. B. in Form einer zuverlässigen Referenz von Metadaten auf den Volltext oder kontext-sensitiver Verknüpfungen. Ziel dieses Aufsatzes ist eine Diskussion über die Standardisierung der Schnittmenge aus Metadaten und Pls. Dazu werden zunächst Überschneidungen aufsyntaktischer und semantischer Ebene dargestellt. Anhand der Uniform Resource Name (URN) Implementation Der Deutschen Bibliothek wird die Wechselbeziehung auf funktionaler Ebene exemplarisch verdeutlicht.
