Abstract

Bibliographische Daten der in der E-LIB (http://elib.sutib.uni-bremen.de) nachgewiesenen Volltexte aus den Bereichen Dissertationen und Hochschulveröffentlichungen der Universität Bremen können ab sofort weltweit von anderen OAI-fähigen Serviceprovidern (Open Archives Initiative, www.open archives.org/index.html) strukturiert abgefragt werden. Die Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Bremen gehört damit zu den rund fünfzig ersten internationalen Dokumentarchiven (in Deutschland bisher: HU Berlin, UB Chemnitz, UB Dortmund, UB Duisburg, SLUB Dresden, PhysNet Oldenburg, Universität Tübingen), die diese zukunftsweisende Möglichkeit bereits realisiert haben. Die Implementierung wurde von der Deutschen Initiative für Netzwerkinformation (DINI) nachdrücklich empfohlen. Das OAI-Protokoll ermöglicht unter Nutzung von XMLStrukturen einen Austausch bibliographischer Daten in strukturierter Form im www und unterscheidet sich damit grundsätzlich von bisherigen Methoden der Abfrage und Übermittlung von Resultaten einer Online-Recherche. Die bibliographischen Daten können problemlos in Datenbanken importiert werden. Auf diese Weise werden ab sofort Publikationen von Bremer Wissenschaftlern in Amerika und anderen Ländern Europas über die jeweiligen Suchsysteme gefunden.
