Abstract

Im Anschluss an Blumenberg wird die durch nautische Metaphern geprägte Kommunikation über das Internet und die Wissensgesellschaft untersucht. In einem Ausblick wird die Bedeutung der metaphorischen Sprache bei der Wissensgenerierung durch die Explikation impliziten Wissens herausgearbeitet. Das Internet als Medium der Wissensgesellschaft wird in seiner Unübersichtlichkeit und seinen gesellschaftlichen Unwägbarkeiten mit der Metaphorik der Seefahrt beschrieben. Diese Seefahrts-Metaphorik hat sich nicht zufällig gebildet. Hans Blumenbergs "Metaphorologie" folgend, sind Metaphern nicht als Vorstufen begrifflicher Beschreibungen zu verstehen, sondern vielmehr als Antworten auf unabweisliche Fragen, die nicht in Begriffe überführbar sind. Metaphern beinhalten immer einen Überschuss, sie sind reichhaltiger als Begriffe und erzeugen eine Fülle, der das rationale Denken nicht habhaft zu werden vermag. Die Seefahrtsmetaphorik nimmt dabei seit Alters her eine besondere Rolle ein. Das Verlassen des sicheren Hafens und der Aufbruch zu neuen Ufern sind Bilder für das menschliche Handeln. Die nautische Metaphorik des Internets ist somit als Symbol des Wagnisses, der Chance und Gefahr neuer Formen von Kommunikation und Wissenstransfer zu deuten. Inwieweit diese Unternehmung Schiffbruch erleiden wird oder uns zu den Ufern einer Wissensgesellschaft führt, bleibt abzuwarten.
