Abstract
Zuallererst: Der Alltag an deutschen Hochschulen sieht anders aus. E-Learning hat, dort wo es zum Einsatz kommt, bislang herzlich wenig mit der im Bild behaupteten Freiheit zu tun. Doch so oder so ähnlich wird einem das Thema E-Learning vielleicht begegnet sein - in Zeitschriften und Broschüren, auf Websites und Info-Flyern. Man könnte dieses Missverhältnis von Darstellung und Realität den Fotografen und Bildagenturen anlasten, deren Aufgabe es ist, die Darstellung eines Themas im Bild auf ihren visuellen Kern herunterzubrechen. Doch eine weitere Möglichkeit soll hier betrachtet werden. E-Learning, der Einsatz Neuer Medien in der Lehre, ist unterschwellig zu einem strategischen Argument im Hochschulmarketing geworden, das hier synonym für eine Steigerung der Qualität in der Lehre steht. Dabei werden bewusst visuelle Argumente eingesetzt, die die Maximen der Wissensgesellschaft - Mobilität, Nachfrageorientierung und Wettbewerb - überdeutlich spiegeln.
