Abstract

Seit seinem Erscheinen 1923 liegt dieses zum Standardwerk gewordene Handbuch von Georg Schneider zum zweiten Mal in veränderter Gestalt vor. Die von Friedrich Nestler nun völlig neu bearbeitete Ausgabe behält den Umfang der letzten, fünften Auflage von 1969 bei, nimmt aber die sehr zahlreichen Neuerscheinungen aus reichlich 6 Jahrzehnten sowie die elektronischen verzeichnisse auf und trennt sich weitgehend von älterer Literatur. Dafür sind die Kapitel übersichtlicher angeordnet, um den Stoff strukturell zu straffen, indem die allgemeinen Kataloge, die Bibliographien der Zeitschriften, der Gesellschaftsschriften, der Hochschul- und Schulschriften sowie der amtlichen und der privaten Drucke anders zugeordnet sind. Die Untergliederung folgt formalen, alphabetischen und chronologischen Merkmalen, um das Nachschlagen zu erleichtern
