Abstract
Eine jüngst durchgeführte Untersuchung von URL-Referenzierungen aus Artikeln im E-Journal "D-Lib Magazine" hat ergeben, dass etwa 30 % von insgesamt 4387 URLs aus den zwischen 1995 und 2004 erschienenen Artikeln des Magazins zum Untersuchungszeitpunkt (Februar 2005) nicht mehr zum gewünschten Dokument führten. Digitale Ressourcen sind stärker gefährdet als trägergebundene analoge Publikationen, was ihre dauerhafte Verfügbarkeit betrifft. Die Verlagerung ihres Speicherortes in einem Zugriffssystem, das auf ortsbezogener Adressierung beruht (URL), Veränderungen der Umgebungsbedingungen durch technischen Fortschritt, ungeregelte Verantwortlichkeiten hinsichtlich ihrer Archivierung durch vertrauenswürdige und beständige Institutionen: dies ist nur ein Teil der Probleme, die angegangen werden müssen, wenn wir digitale Ressourcen als Teil unseres kulturellen Erbes und im Interesse von Wissenschaft und Forschung erhalten wollen. In Bibliotheken, Archiven und Museen sind die Arbeitsabläufe der Zugangsbearbeitung und Archivierung von Dokumenten noch stark von Papierunterlagen bestimmt. Wie wird sich dies in Zukunft ändern?
