Abstract

Discusses the subject indexing of law books which are produced primarilary for the use of legal profession and law students. Stresses the particular importance of vocabulary for lawyers, for whom definitions of words are vital. Examines the words 'law' and the order of words in subject headings, the use of prepositions and singular and plural forms. Offers advice on the indexing of references to legal matters in general books and in books on particular aspects of the law for layman
