Abstract

Die 35. Arbeitssitzung der AGM (Arbeitsgruppe Elektronische Medien in der Patentinformation) beim Technischen Informationszentrum des Deutschen Patentund Markenamt in Berlin am 7. November 2007 stand wie in jedem Jahr unter dem Motto "Entwicklungen in der Patentinformation". Die Arbeitsgruppe besteht seit 35 Jahren und hat inzwischen 80 Mitglieder aus Wirtschaft und Behörden, die bei Bedarf regelmäßig informiert werden. Die Phase der Digitalisierung der Patentdaten, die etwa im Jahre 1990 begonnen hat, führte ja bekanntlich zu einer regelrechten Revolution in der Patentinformation, die auch heute nach 17 Jahren noch keineswegs als abgeschlossen angesehen werden kann. In enger Kooperation mit den Nutzern und Kunden haben sowohl die Patentbehörden wie auch die Provider Wünsche und Anregungen aufgenommen und weitere Lücken in den digitalen Datenbeständen geschlossen. Benutzerfreundliche Recherchewerkzeuge wurden angepasst oder ergänzt. Wiederum ist noch kein Ende dieser Entwicklung abzusehen. Aber auch heute steht der Informationssuchende immer noch vor der Aufgabe, sich ständig weiterzubilden und gewissenhaft zu prüfen, welche der breit gefächerten Dienstleistungsangebote für ihn und für seine Firma tatsächlich in Betracht kommen und zum wirtschaftlichen Erfolg führen. Dieser Beitrag soll wie in jedem Jahr dazu dienen, dem interessierten Leser einen Überblick zu geben, über das, was sich auf dem Gebiet der Patentinformation bei Ämtern und Providern an Fortschritten ergeben hat und was in Zukunft noch zu erwarten sein wird. Ich möchte auch an dieser Stelle noch einmal betonen, dass Sie nicht zögern sollten, den Ämtern bzw. Providern mitzuteilen, wenn sie bei Ihrer Arbeit Fehler oder Ungereimtheiten bei den Rechercheergebnissen oder Softwaretools feststellen sollten. Nur durch Ihre Aufmerksamkeit und diese Rückkopplung ist in Zukunft sicherzustellen, dass in der Welt der komplexen Datenstrukturen Fehler beseitigt und benutzerfreundliche Lösungen gefunden und erarbeitet werden.
