Abstract

Die Bereitstellung regionalwissenschaftlich orientierter Fachinformationsangebote ist, im Unterschied zu fachlich stärker fokussierten Informationsressourcen beispielsweise für die Technik- und Naturwissenschaften oder die Medizin, mit besonderen Anforderungen an das inhaltliche Konzept verbunden: Die potenziellen Nutzer derartiger Angebote haben einen sehr unterschiedlichen fachlichen Hintergrund, beginnend von Historikern über Kulturwissenschaftler und Philologen, Politikwissenschaftler oder Soziologen bis hin zu Juristen und Philosophen. In all diesen Disziplinen mit ihren jeweils spezifischen methodischen und hermeneutischen Forschungszugängen können landes- oder regionalspezifische Fragestellungen dominieren, und diese fachliche Breite müssen Informationsangebote für eine solcherart disparate, aber dennoch über ein gemeinsames Interesse an einem bestimmten Land oder einer Region definierbare Zielgruppe angemessen widerspiegeln. Sie dürfen dabei jedoch nicht zu sehr als "Gemischtwarenladen" wahrgenommen werden. Vor dieser Herausforderung standen auch die vier Projektpartner, die, gefördert von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft, Anfang des Jahres 2008 damit begannen, die Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Romanischer Kulturkreis (Vifarom) aufzubauen. Seit Juni 2009 ist die Vifarom als Betaversion online zugänglich, und Ende September desselben Jahres wurde das Portal im Rahmen des XXXI. Romanistentages unter der Adresse www.vifarom.de offiziell für eine öffentliche Nutzung freigegeben. Anders als es der Name "Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Romanischer Kulturkreis" vielleicht nahe legt, ist die Vifarom bewusst nicht konzipiert als umfassendes Angebot für alle Länder des romanischen Kulturkreises, verstanden als die Gesamtheit der Länder und Regionen des romanischen Sprach- und Kulturraumes.
