Abstract
Das Sammeln von Zeitungen ist wahrlich keine Erfolgsgeschichte in der Tradition der Bibliotheken, Archive und Museen in Deutschland. Der vorliegende Beitrag versucht eine überblicksartige Bestandsaufnahme zur Erwerbung und Erschließung, zu den zentralen Nachweissystemen und den Digitalisierungsprojekten, um sowohl die thematische Bandbreite der Zeitungsarbeit zu veranschaulichen als auch um Anknüpfungspunkte für die Verbesserung vorhandener wie auch für die Entwicklung neuer Systeme zu liefern. Vor dem Hintergrund bereits bestehender Verbände und Gremien schließt der Beitrag mit einem Vorschlag zur Verbesserung der Zusammenarbeit aller beteiligten Institutionen und Akteure.
