Abstract

So, Handbuch kaufen, Studium abbrechen und ab ins Berufsleben. Diese Zusammenfassung des Uni-Informatik-Wissens durch 47 Autoren auf über 1.150 Seiten lässt das nahe legen. Die beiden Autoren Peter Rechenberg und Gustav Pomberger fassen so ziemlich alle Inhalte des Informatikstudiums im Informatik-Handbuch zusammen. Auf kleinem Format, eng gedruckt und auf dünnem Papier erhält der Leser sieben Teile geballter Informationen. Die Bereiche sind Theoretische Informatik, Daten, Technische Informatik, Praktische Informatik, Angewandte Informatik, Wirtschaftsinformatik sowie Normen und Spezifikationen. Jeder Teil enthält zwei bis 15 Kapitel, die von jeweils einem oder mehreren der Autoren erstellt wurden. Die Kapitel sind mehr oder minder umfangreich, klar gegliedert -- und hierbei auch sehr schön gesetzt -- je nach Thema mit klaren Grafiken und Hinweisen auf allgemeine und spezielle Literatur. Die Algorithmen werden in der Sprache Adele beschrieben. Diese dürfte vielen Lesern nicht bekannt sein, wird aber am Ende in einem eigenen Anhang erklärt. Die einfache, an Pascal und Modula-2 angelehnte Syntax, macht die Algorithmen leicht nachvollziehbar. Der Aufbau der Kapitel ist entsprechend ihrer Komplexität ebenfalls gut nachvollziehbar. An einigen Stellen ist den Autoren ihre Begeisterung anzumerken, so dass hier das Lesen geradezu Spaß macht.
