Abstract

Die strategische Partnerschaft der führenden Karlsruher Bibliotheken hat einen bedeutenden Schritt unternommen, um die Bibliotheksdienstleistungen auf den Gebieten der Informationsvermittlung und Beratung für die Bürger der Technologieregion Karlsruhe nachhaltig zu verbessern: Die Allianz aus der Badischen Landesbibliothek, der KIT-Bibliothek und der Stadtbibliothek Karlsruhe bietet, wie sie in einer Pressemeldung mitteilt, jetzt verknüpfte Empfehlungsdienste in den drei Bibliothekskatalogen an.

"Bibliothekskunden erhalten demnach beim Suchen nach Literatur Empfehlungen auf Medien, die auch in den Partnerbibliotheken vorhanden sind, und können sie dort ausleihen. Ein erster Schritt in diese Richtung ist die Einführung eines verknüpften Empfehlungsdienstes in den drei Bibliothekskatalogen. Der Bibliothekskunde findet nun beim Suchen im Katalog Literaturempfehlungen, die neben den eigenen auch Bücher der beiden anderen Bibliotheken beinhalten. Die Empfehlungen entstehen durch statistische Auswertungen der Kataloginhalte und des anonymisierten Benutzerverhaltens. Die Umsetzung geschieht durch die Karlsruher Firma Bibtip, einer Ausgründung aus dem Karlsruher Institut für Technologie. Inzwischen wird die Bibtip-Technologie (www.bibtip.org) weltweit von über 90 Bibliotheken eingesetzt. Angesichts der immer größer werdenden Flut an Informationen stehen die Kriterien Qualität und Serviceorientierung bei den Entwicklungen der Bibliotheksallianz an oberster Stelle. Die Partnerschaft einer großen Regionalbibliothek, einer der führenden technisch-wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken und einer großen Stadtbibliothek ist dabei einzigartig in Deutschland. Schüler, Studierende, Forschende und Privatpersonen sollen einen einheitlichen Zugang zu den Karlsruher Bibliotheken erhalten. Die Partner bringen ihre sich ergänzenden Kernkompetenzen im Bereich Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften, Natur- und Ingenieurwissenschaften sowie populärer Medien und Allgemeinbildung ein.
Mit dem Bibliotheksportal Karlsruhe (www.bibliotheksportal-karlsruhe.de) wurde 2005 bereits ein erster Grundstein der Zusammenarbeit gelegt. Hier sind die sechs Millionen Bücher und anderen Medien komfortabel unter einer Suchoberfläche abrufbar, die in den wissenschaftlichen und Öffentlichen Bibliotheken Karlsruhes vorhanden sind. Nun wird an der einfacheren und transparenteren Benutzung über Bibliotheksgrenzen hinweg gearbeitet. Der neue Empfehlungsdienst verbessert und erweitert die Suchergebnisse durch das Angebot inhaltlich verwandter Titel in den Katalogen der anderen großen Karlsruher Bibliotheken. Wer es ausprobieren möchte, hier sind drei Beispiele: die »Würde der Kreatur« von Gotthard Teutsch im Katalog der KIT-Bibliothek (www.ubka. uni-karlsruhe.de/hylib/suchmaske.html) oder »Reasoning web« von Sergio Tessaris im Katalog der Badischen Landesbibliothek (sua.blb-karlsruhe.de) oder »Herta Müller - Atemschaukel« im Katalog der Stadtbibliothek Karslruhe (www. stadtbibliothek-karlsruhe.de). Wenn man die Titel recherchiert, erhält man Cross-Referenzen aus den anderen Bibliotheken."
