Title: Erschliessung der medizinhistorischen Separata-Sammlungen der Universitätsbibliothek der Medizinischen Universität Wien

Abstract: Die Universitätsbibliothek der Medizinischen Universität Wien verfügt über ein wertvolles kulturhistorisches Erbe, das die Geschichte der "Wiener Medizinischen Schule" repräsentiert. Einen Teil der in der Zweigbibliothek für Geschichte der Medizin beherbergten historischen Literatur bilden die medizinhistorischen Separatasammlungen. Diese Unikate stellen einen unschätzbaren Mehrwert als Quellenmaterial für medizinhistorische und biografische Forschungen dar. Bei den etwa 140.000 Einzelexemplaren umfassenden Separatabeständen der Universitätsbibliothek handelt es sich um eine höchst heterogene Literaturquelle unterschiedlichster Provenienzen (institutionelle und personenbezogene Sammlungen). Ziel des Projekts war die Erstellung eines Konzeptes für die Erschließung der Sammlungen nach einheitlichen Standards auf oberster (Sammlungs-) Ebene sowie deren Nachweis in einem Online-Rechercheinstrument. Als Ergebnis wurde ein Workflow zur Erschließung von medizinhistorischen Separatasammlungen im Bibliothekssystem Aleph entwickelt, der sämtliche Aspekte der Online-Erfassung von Separata und die unterschiedlichen Eigenschaften der jeweiligen Sammlung berücksichtigt. Die Katalogisierung in der Datenbank ACC05 des Österreichischen Verbundkatalogs für Vor-/Nachlässe, Autographen und Handschriften gewährleistet die optimale Abbildung der Sammlung sowie ihre Suchbarkeit in der Suchmaschine des Österreichischen Bibliothekenverbundes (OBVSG). Verlinkungen mit der lokalen Suchmaschine der Universitätsbibliothek der Medizinischen Universität Wien (Primo) bzw. mit Einzelexemplaren in der ACC01 befinden sich derzeit in Planung. Darüber hinaus bieten Verknüpfungen weitere Zusatzinformationen (Biografien) und einen Zugang zu externen Rechercheinstrumenten (Kataloge).
