Abstract

Niederländischer Originaltitel: BOLLAND, Een roman van Gekromde Ruimten en Uitdijend Heelal, Vlg. C. Bloomendaal, s-Gravehage. Übersetzt von Klaus Wigand.Seit dem Erscheinen von Edwin A. Abbots FLÄCHENLAND um 1880 trägt das Thema des Lebens in zwei-, drei- und vierdimensionalen Räumen nicht nur zu wissenschaftlichen Diskussionen, sondern auch zu literarischer Unterhaltung bei. Der Niederländer Dionys Burger hat die mathematisch-physikalischen Erkenntnisse der vergangenen Jahrzehnte zu einem neuen Roman verarbeitet, in dem SECHSECK, ein Enkel von Abbots Flächenland-QUADRAT, alljährlich in der Silvesternacht von einer KUGEL besucht wird und mit ihr über die vielfältigen Aspekte des Lebens in mehr- und vieldimensionalen Räumen diskutiert.
