Abstract
Zur Demokratie gehört Diskurs. Dazu gehört die Bereitschaft, Perspektiven anderer zu kennen und als mögliche Standpunkte anzuerkennen. Initiativen wie "Deutschland spricht" und Veranstaltungen wie die unsrige am 18. Und 19. Oktober, in denen Menschen mit gegensätzlichen Ansichten gezielt zu einer Debatte zusammengebracht werden, versuchen einer zunehmend als stärker empfundenen Polarisierung entgegenzuwirken. Demokratie braucht Offenheit für verschiedene Standpunkte. Voraussetzung für einen sachlich-zielführenden Diskurs ist eine fundierte Wissensbasis und der ständige und optimale Zugang zu relevantem Wissen. Hierzu gehört die Fähigkeit, Zugang zu Informationen zu erlangen, um Sachverhalte zu überschauen, Fragen auf den Grund zu gehen und Perspektiven kritisch zu hinterfragen. Hierfür ist gelebte Informationskompetenz unverzichtbar.
