Abstract

Examines the business of publishing a commerical CD-ROM database title from tape, print or microfiche, and considers the issues that govern the decision whether to produce the database in house or to contract the work out to a commerical CD-ROM producer. Considerations include: choice of software; choice of technology; how the database is to be sold and who is to distribute it and provide support and maintenance. Includes a table of estimated costs for the production, marketing and selling of a single 100 Mega Byte database costing 495 dollars from tape
