Abstract
Die traditionellen Informationsanbieter, Bibliotheken und Dokumentationsstellen, sehen sich einem tiefgreifenden Wandel gegenüber, der durch die Möglichkeiten der modernen Informationstechnik bedingt ist. Dies sind in erster Linie die zunehmende Vernetzung aller Bereiche und die parallel dazu entstehenden intelligenten Verbraucher-Endgeräte. Entwicklungen wie elektronisches Publizieren, das Angebot der Volltextdatenbanken und elektronische Dokumentlieferung sind wesentliche Ergebnisse dieser Entwicklung. Für Informationsproduzenten und -anbieter stellt sich die Frage, wo diese zum Nutzen der 'Kunden' mit vertretbaren Kosten in das Dienstleistungsangebot aufgenommen werden können. Schon heute zeigt sich, daß neben den traditionellen Informationsanbietern professionelle Dienstleister verstärkt auf dem Markt tätig werden, die sich direkt an die Endbenutzer wenden.
