Abstract

Describes the raisons d'etre of the catalogue of the Bibliothèque de France which include comprehensiveness, innovation and enrichment, focusing on the intention to enhance its entries with extracts from primary documents as part of a plan to improve its service to users. A sample of 1000 entries have been tested but will only justify evaluation after the official opening of the Bibliothèque de France and observation of subsequent user practices
