Abstract

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the application-to-application exchange of data between trading partners. It creates a paperless process that is designed to replace the present form of transaction (i.e. purchase orders, invoicing, status reports, etc.) between organizations. EDI has substantially grown in various industries in the past twenty years. Organization performance has been improved with EDI applications in a number of ways, such as lower administrative, paper flow and postage costs, a more effective use of clerical personnel, increased accurary and fewer errors in entering data. It has impacts on organization structures and strategies. Discusses these issues and sheds light on future developments
