Abstract

Describes a study of 2 different types of chcracter movement in a computer user interface, movement in discrete steps (hopping) and continuous motion (walking). The study employed 36 three year old children plaing a Nintendo game incorporating the 2 types of graphical movements. Results indicated that, although there was no difference between movement types in terms of targets captured, continuous movement was significantly more challenging for the children
