Abstract

Report commissioned by Book Industry Communication (BIC) and carried out by Coopers and Lybrand. The aims of the study were: to identify the current level of usage of electronic data interchange (EDI) across the book industry; to investigate the range of EDI communication; to test the understanding of the benefits that can be obtained from the use of EDI; to identify what users see as key issues for EDI; to assess the costs of EDI and its implementation within various parts of the industry; and to identify the key drivers for change and the potential barriers that could impede such change
