Abstract

The Toy Library at Brooklyn Branch Library, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA, is a service within the library designed to meet the educational play needs of children from infancy to 8 years of age. The circulating collection includes over 1.400 toys of over 350 different varieties. Selection is made by professional staff who consider safety, stimulation, and quality in their decisions. Toys are catalogued on the library's computer system and a visual catalogue is also available. The Toy Library has given Brooklyn Library a new visibility within the community and created an environment that stimulates creativity and learning for children and parent alike
