    "Nachdem im Herbst 2004 mit der Verabschiedung der Deutschen Normungsstrategie ein entscheidender Schritt zur Neuausrichtung der deutschen Normung geleistet werden konnte, wurde 2005 mit der Umsetzung begonnen. In diesem Zusammenhang wurde der DIN Präsidialausschuss FOCUS-ICT zur Umsetzung der Deutschen Normungsstrategie im Bereich Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik sowie ihrer Anwendungen und gremienübergreifenden Koordinierung komplexer Normungsaufgaben in diesem Bereich gebildet. Der NABD hat die Erarbeitung und Veröffentlichung der Deutschen Normungsstrategie begrüßt. Die Deutsche Normungsstrategie hat sich bereits jetzt in der Fachöffentlichkeit und insbesondere im öffentlichen Bereich günstig auf die Wahrnehmung des DIN und seiner Aktivitäten ausgewirkt. Der NABD macht sich alle fünf Ziele der Deutschen Normungsstrategie zu eigen, konzentriert sich jedoch entsprechend seines Aufgabenbereiches ganz besonders auf das Ziel Entlastung der staatlichen Regelsetzung sowie auf das Ziel Förderung der Technikkonvergenz. Die Deutsche Normungsstrategie trägt dazu bei, die an sich bekannten Ziele der Normungsarbeit bei allen Aktionen und Projekten bewusst umzusetzen. Der Technikkonvergenz trägt der NABD beispielsweise mit mehreren Projekten zur Digitalisierung und Archivierung digitaler Dokumente Rechnung. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt der Arbeiten ist die Sicherung der Interoperabilität zwischen den Bibliotheken. Mittelfristig sind übergreifende Themen zu digitalen Bibliotheken und zur Langzeitarchivierung/Digitalisierung von Büchern auch im Rahmen von FOCUS-ICT denkbar. Im Rahmen seiner Öffentlichkeitsarbeit hat der NABD mit großem Erfolg die Veranstaltung "Nationale und internationale Normung im Bibliothekswesen" auf dem Bibliothekartag in Düsseldorf im März 2005 durchgeführt."
