- Abstract
- Das auf dem 4. Bielefelder Kolloquium bereits angekündigte und im April 1998 gestartete Projekt 'Die Digitale Bibliothek NRW' hat zu einer vielzahl von Teilprojekten sowie Aktivitäten im Bereich der kooperativen Erwerbung von Literatur und elektronischen Publikationen in Nordrhein-Westfalen geführt. Der Artikel gibt einen kurzen Überblick über das Gesamtprojekt undd beschäftigt sich insbesondere mit der Zugangssystem der Digitalen Bibliothek NRW. Das Zugangssystem ermöglicht eine kombinierte Recherche in verteilt vorliegenden Informationsressourcen über die Standardschnittstellen HTTP und Z30.50 und realisiert eine Integration von Nachweissystemen mit Dokumentliefer- und Volltextsystemen. Mit der in das Zugangssystem eingebundenen Collect-Datenbank (Verbundkatalog Digitale Dokumente) ist sowohl die manuelle als auch automatisierte Erschließung von elektronischen Publikationen aller Art möglich

- Abstract
- Public key techniques provide the basis for secure information interchange and the intended legal acknowledgement of digital documents. However, the so-called digital signatures differ considerably from conventional signatures on paper. With the help of asymmetric techniques and mathematical algorithms, secret keys are created in order to sign, and public keys to verify documents. The introduction of cryptographic methods in records creation and management will bring about new problems for public administrations and for archives, including the question of whether archives can ensure the credibility of arcival documents and verify electronic signatures in the future

- Abstract
- Seit Jahren wird von den Wissenschaftsverlagen nach einem System zur eindeutigen Identifizierung und Lokalisierunbg von relevanten Objekten im Internet gesucht. Ein solches System sollte zitierbare Inhalte authentifizieren können und damit dem Nutzer die Sicherheit geben, daß das, was er abgerufen hat, auch das ist, was ihm geliefert wird. Gleichzeitig muß der Urheber der Information sicher sein können, daß seine Rechte auf den Inhalt respektiert und geschützt werden

- Abstract
- Library world is actually facing 2 major changes. The one described by the concept of the Digital or Virtual Library let us already anticipate fundamental changes in the products and services libraries will deliver in the future. At present libraries also must react to important economic changes with phenomena like privatisation, deregulation and globalisation of economic processes which - at least in Germany - have now a growing impact on the library and information business. This situation is a real challenge for library management. But unfortunately new management concepts are hardly found in library literature and practice in Germany. Therefore the article wants to give to the library world some ideas on new management and business concepts like the 'learning organisation' or the 'innovative collaborator'
