    Abstract
The scale of web site design has grown so that what was once comparable to decorating a room is now comparable to designing buildings or even cities. Designing sites so that people can find their way around is an ever-growing challenge as sites contain more and more information. In the past, Information Architecture for the World Wide Web has helped developers and designers establish consistent and usable structures for their sites and their information. This edition of the classic primer on web site design and navigation is updated with recent examples, new scenarios, and new information on best practices. Readers will learn how to present large volumes of information to visitors who need to find what they're looking for quickly. With topics that range from aesthetics to mechanics, this valuable book explains how to create interfaces that users can understand easily.

    Abstract
Intelligent agents should be used to assist users of the WWW. Identifies a number of key components in such a system and proposes a system architecture. Designs a learning agent along with the underlying algorithms for the discovery of areas of interest from user access logs. The discovered topics can be used to improve the efficiency of information retrieval by prefetching documents for the users and storing them in a document database in the system. Implements a prototype system

    Abstract
Describes how usability testing was used to validate design recommendations WWW navigation aids. The results show a need for navigational aids that are related to the particular Website and located beneath browser buttons. Usability criteria were established that limits page changes to 4 and search times to 60 seconds for information retrieval

    Abstract
This is the first comprehensive book on hypermedia nd the WWW that icludes features of the 2nd generation systems. Definitions, history, current technology and problems, leading-edge initiatives, future applications, all these are seen as an unfolding of a millenial communication medium that is not serving but involving even the non-technical person in a very technical world. Much of the promise of hypermedia lies in its applications to education, and this receives prominence in the book. The new hypermedia system 'HyperWave' is described in detail. The book's vision, organization, and easy-to-read style make it suitable as a source for information for the practitioner and the general reader. It may also serve both as a reference book for researchers and as a textbook

    Abstract
This book covers the basics of semantic web technologies and indexing languages, and describes their contribution to improve languages as a tool for subject queries and knowledge exploration. The book is relevant to information scientists, knowledge workers and indexers. It provides a suitable combination of theoretical foundations and practical applications.

    Abstract
A unique collection of historical material covering the lives and events of an English village between 1400 and 1750 has been made available via a WWW enabled information retrieval system. Since the expected readership of the documents ranges from school children to experienced researchers, providing this information in an easily accessible form has offered many challenges requiring tools to aid searching and browsing. The file structure of the document collection was replaced by an database, enabling query results to be presented on the fly. A Java interface displays each user's context in a form that allows for easy and intuitive relevance feedback

    Abstract
Describes the design and implementation of a system for computer generation of linked HTML documents to support information retrieval and hypertext applications on the WWW. The system does not require text query input, nor any client or host processing other than hypertext linkage. The goal is to construct a fully automatic system in which original text documents are read and processed by a computer program that generates HTML files, which can be used immediately by Web browsers to search and retrieve the original documents. A user with a large collection of information: for instance, newspaper articles; can feed these documents to this program and produce directly the necessary files to establish WWW home page and related pages, to support interactive retrieval and distribution of the original documents

    Abstract

    Abstract
Describes a search engine that integrate text and image search. 1 or more Web site can be indexed for both textual and image information, allowing the user to search based on keywords or images or both. Another problem with the current search engines is that they show the results as pages of scrolled lists; this is not very user-friendly. The search engine allows the user to visualise to results in various ways. Explains the indexing and searching techniques of the search engine and highlights several features of the querying interface to make the retrieval process more efficient. Use examples to show the usefulness of the technology
