Abstract

Das Buch wendet sich an Menschen, die im Netz zu Hause sind, die nicht mehr zwischen online und offline unterscheiden, die in Blogs Kommentare posten und mit dem Kollegen über Fußball diskutieren, die Online-Zeitungen lesen und dabei mit dem Lebenspartner über das Wetter reden. Sie sind Netzwerker - nicht nur, wenn sie im Internet unterwegs sind. Ihr soziales Netz ist dicht geknüpft, die Online-Welt wird darin immer fester eingewoben. Sie ziehen ihr Wissen aus dem Netz, handeln in Netzwerken und indem sie sich vernetzen und sie hoffen auf Problemlösungen durch technische Vernetzungen. Netzwerke sind die Basis unserer modernen Welt, aber Netze machen diese Welt auch immer komplexer und undurchschaubarer. Das Buch widmet sich den Herausforderungen der Vernunft in der vernetzten Welt. Es sucht die Antworten auf die großen philosophischen Fragen von Immanuel Kant, die in die Welt der vernetzten Vernunft passen: - Wie hängt unser Wissen von den Techniken der Vernetzung ab, und warum glauben wir dem Netz oft mehr als den eigenen Erfahrungen? - Ist Handeln in einem richtungslosen Netz noch möglich, und kann man auch daraus ausbrechen, sich aus Knoten und Schlingen befreien? - Gibt das Netz uns Grund zur Hoffnung und wird eine Welt technischer Vernetzungen unsere Wünsche erfüllen? - Was macht den vernetzten Menschen aus, ändert er sein Wesen?

Abstract

www.dandelon.com ist eine Suchmaschine fur wissenschaftliche Literatur, die mehr findet als andere, ein Datenaustauschzentrum und ein kollaboratives soziales Netzwerk, dem vorwiegend Bibliotheken aus mittlerweile Norwegen, Deutschland, Osterreich, Liechtenstein, Schweiz und Italien angehoren. Vertreter dieses Netzwerks trafen sich zum 5. Mal in der .deutschen Toskana_g, sprich in den Weinbergen am Rande des Pfalzer Waldes . und das Wetter passte einschlagig. Elf erstklassige Weine und besondere kulinarische Genusse in Gimmeldingen rundeten das Treffen der 25 Teilnehmer in Neustadt/Haardt bei AGI . Information Management Consultants ab. Noch nicht ganz eine Million Mal pro Monat kommen Studenten und Wissenschaftler uber ihre jeweilige Bibliothek, uber Google oder gezielt zu dandelon.com. Direkt in dandelon.com werden bisher bis zu 81.000 Fragen pro Monat gestellt und die Ergebnisse mit Highlighting der semantisch verwandten Terme angezeigt. Die ULB Darmstadt ermittelte, dass der zweithaufig genutzte Dienst ihrer Bibliothek nach der ubergreifenden Portalsuche die mit intelligentCAPTURE und dandelon.com produzierten Inhaltsverzeichnisse von Buchern sind. Sie wird diesen Service deshalb stark ausweiten. Zwei Bibliotheken wollen die Suche in ihrem OPAC so schnell wie moglich ganz auf dandelon.com-Technologie umstellen, eine davon der Pionier unter allen, die Vorarlberger Landesbibliothek, die im April 2008 auf die ersten 100.000 gescannten Inhaltsverzeichnisse anstosen konnte (s. den Beitrag von Karl Radler auf S. XX dieser Ausgabe). Mit einem Zuwachs von uber 260.000 Titeln seit Mai 2007 und einem aktuellen Bestand von uber 481.000 Buchern und 550.000 Aufsatzen . die erste Million wurde im April somit gemeinsam produziert . lohnte es sich, Plane fur die nachsten Stufen zu schmieden.

Abstract

Kollaborationen mit Kollegen sind für fast alle Wissenschaftler bedeutend. Forscher bauen sich im Laufe ihrer Karriere ein soziales Netzwerk mit Kontakten zu anderen Wissenschaftlern mit ähnlichen Interessen und Forschungsschwerpunkten auf. Ein Empfehlungssystem könnte einer Person dabei helfen, geeignete Kollegen und neue Kooperationspartner zu finden. Für einen Wissenschaftler ist seine Reputation sehr wichtig, die mit Zitations- und Referenzdaten analysiert werden kann. Solche Daten können dazu dienen, Cluster mit ähnlichen Forschern zu ermitteln, die wiederum für ein Empfehlungssystem verwendet werden können. Darüber hinaus enthalten neue Dienste des sozialen Webs, wie Social-Bookmarking-Systeme, weitere Informationen über Wissenschaftler, auf Basis derer Personenvorschläge gemacht werden können. Im Folgenden wird ein Versuch beschrieben, verschiedene soziale Informationen über Wissenschaftler zu nutzen, um diesen relevante Kooperationspartner vorzuschlagen.
