    Abstract
    Hiermit wird erstmals eine Bestandsaufnahme der aktuellen Situation in den Mitgliedsstaaten der EU (und zukünftiger Mitglieder) bezüglich der retrospektiven Konversion gegeben. berücksichtigt wurden sowohl laufende als auch abgeschlossene und geplante Projekte aller Bibliothekstypen. Insgesamt 15 Länder sind mit einzelnen Projekten oder einer allgemeinen Übersicht vertreten. Auch vier öffentlich geförderte Projekte wurden berücksichtigt; drei Projekte des EG-Aktionsplanes und ein Projekt der DFG. Das Ganze wird durch eine Bibliographie ergänzt. Eine regelmäßige Aktualisierung ist beabsichtigt

    Abstract
    Wie bereits vor einiger Zeit im BIBLIOTHEKDIENST berichtet, wurde der Neubau der UB Kiel am 1. Dezember 2000 fertiggestellt. Der Umzug der ca. 100 Mitarbeiter und über 1 Million Bücher dauerte vier Monate. Bis auf drei Schließungstage wurde der normale Betrieb auch während dieser Zeit vollständig aufrechterhalten - eine logistische Herausforderung, verbunden mit einem wesentlich erhöhten Arbeitsaufwand. Eine Ausnahme gab es dennoch: die Zettelkataloge. Sie konnten wir getrost stehen lassen bzw. - pietätlos ausgedrückt - entsorgen. Pünktlich zum realen Umzug war auch die retrospektive Konversion abgeschlossen: Die Benutzerkataloge sind allesamt digitalisiert und bilden jetzt einen alles umfassenden Online-Katalog der Zentralbibliothek. Den ursprünglich für die Zettelkataloge vorgesehenen Platz nehmen nun zusätzliche Benutzercomputer für die Katalogrecherche und Bestellung ein

    Abstract
    Seit 1988 gibt es das Förderprogramm 'Altbestandserschließung' (ABE) der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft. Mit dieser Publikation ist zum einen beabsichtigt, über den Stand des ABE-Programms der DFG zu berichten und die bislang erreichten Ergebnisse des Unternehmens zu reflektieren. Auf der anderen Seite ist intendiert, Bibliotheken, die keine Konversion ihrer Kataloge aus Eigenmitteln beabsichtigen, konkrete Anregungen und praktische Hinweise für die Planung, Organisation und Durchführung der Arbeiten zu geben. Der Text gliedert sich in einen allgmeinen Teil, in dem über die Ausgangssituation und die Zielperspektive bei der Einrichtung des Programms, über Auswahlkriterien, Organisation und die konkreten Arbeitsgrundsätze informaiert wird. Es folgt ein ausführlicher spezieller Teil, zu dem alle derzeit in dem Programm geförderten Bibliotheken ihre Berichte beigesteuert haben. Abschließend wird eine kritische Zwischenbilanz aus der Sicht einzelner Projekte gezogen, in der über bislang erreichte Ergebnisse und - aus der Sicht des Förderers und seiner Gremien - über Erkenntnisse zur Umsetzung und Steuerung eines solchen Programms berichtet wird

    Im Herbst 1996 fand erstmalig eine vom DBI organisierte Fortbildungsveranstaltung zum Thema 'Retrospektive Konversion' statt. Die Vorträge wurden im Januar 1997 als 'DBI-Materialien 155' veröffentlicht. Im vorliegenden Band sind die Vorträge einer zweiten Veranstaltung zum Thema vom Sept. 1997 zusammengefaßt.     Abstract
    Der bis 1999 vom Deutschen Bibliotheksinstitut mit dem Online-System IBAS angebotene Retro-VK liegt jetzt auf fünf CD-ROMs mit dem System Allegro (alcarta) vor. Damit wird die Übernahme von Titelaufnahmen sowohl im MAB2-Format (Download) als auch im Allegro-Format (Download und Copy-Funktion) zum Zwecke der Konversion ermöglicht. Lokaldaten sind nicht enthalten. Ausgangsmaterial sind die im damaligen DBI zusammengeführten Titelaufnahmen bis Erwerbungsjahr 1996 der zu diesem Zeitpunkt sieben Verbundsysteme.
