Abstract

Knowledge acquisition from several experts is an extremely difficult task. Reviews the difficulties as well as the benefits involved in such an acquisition. Surveys the major methods that can be used to overcome the difficulties. Of special interest are brainstorming and the Delphi method which are conducted manually, the group decision support system which provides electronic support to the group and the blackboard approach which automates the coordination of several knowledge bases to provide a consultation. Develops a framework for selecting an appropriate method depending on the task of the knowledge acquisition and on the scope of the problem. Several examples demonstrate unique implementation of knowledge acquisition from multiple experts
