Abstract

CD-ROM technology has allowed libraries to buy a large number and variety of databases. Considers how libraries can provide access to CD-ROMs and related software. CD-ROMs should be catalogued and classified and arranged by their classification numbers. Easy-to-use workstations should be provided which would also give users help in finding and loading the appropriate CD-ROM discs and in using the search software. Conventional library layouts and routines should be rethought to provide reference service to the CD-ROM user. Suggests ways in which librarians can improve their computer skills to enable them to give more effective support to users
