Abstract

The decisions that librarians take in cataloguing using new technologies must be determined by the needs of librar users. Discusses the following issues which need to be resolved: amount of information; local system capabilities; subject searching; and the process of cataloguing in general. Identifies problems to be confronted in each of these areas and urges music librarians to give them serious considerations
