Abstract

As governmental, academic, and corporate organizations prepare themselves for accessing the information superhighway, it is becoming clear that there has been little planning about what to do about the huge quantities of unevaluated and perhaps unwanted information which threatens to engulf the unsuspecting user. The development of information intermediaries, who can be trusted to shield the end user from information he does not want and that only will waste his time, is already on the horizon.
