Abstract
"Nach heutigem Medienrecht, das ist klar, funktioniert das alles nicht: Die Fusion von Bertelsmann Film- und Fernsehtochter Ufa mit dem Luxemburger RTL-Mutterkonzern CLT sprengt den kleindeutschen Rundfunk-Föderalismus, nachdem der sich bereits über Jahre ad absurdum geführt hatte. Die neue Fusion deklassiert das geltende deutsche Medienrecht als gutgemeinten, aber hoffnungslos antiqierten Provinzialismus. Mit der 'Macht des Faktischen' erteilen uns die Weltkonzerne eine Lehre: Wir dürfen uns endgültig von dem naiven Gedanken verabschieden, daß Medienkonzentration durch Ländergesetze eingedämmt werden kann. Meinungsfreiheit und Informationsvielfalt werden zusehends Subjekte übernationaler Märkte und multinationaler Konzerne. Das Geschäft mit Unterhaltung, Information und Kommunikation wird auf der Schwelle zum neuen Jahrtausend endgültig ein globales, und zwar das von immer weniger großen 'Vermarktern'. Die zirkeln soeben ihre Geschäftsbereiche ab, einigen sich darauf, eher miteinander als gegeneinander zu wirken. Mittelständische Unternehmen werden einen harten Stand haben. Wir Deutsche dürfen uns glücklich schätzen, wenn in der Weltoberliga der Mediengiganten zwei, drei Unternehmen deutscher Herkunft mitspielen."
