Abstract

Scientific and technical information directorate of the National Scientific Research Centre of France (CNRS) has created a Section for research into information science (CERESI). 2 factors led to this decision: Information plays a part in competitiveness. It is also the object of much scientific study. Empirical data abound. The moment is ripe to try to integrate these observations into a framework that will allow us to consider the relationship between information and innovations. Outlines the major points of the CERESI scientific programme.
