Abstract

AVANCE is the new multimedia data base development by the British Universities Film and Video Council. When withdrawal of support by the British Library created the need for a stand-alone system which would continue giving the quality and speed of enquiry service. TINlib from Information Management and Engineering Ltd. was selected. Discusses customisation, cataloguing, information retrieval, downloading of the HELPIS file, and advantages of AVANCE.
